4 Ways to Stretch Your Marketing Budget

If you know your audience and fully understand it’s needs, you can help meet those needs and create demand.  Knowing and understanding your audience through proper market segmentation leads to well targeted campaigns.  With these steps, you will produce products and services that are suitably targeted to an existing market.

So you have good marketing, so how can we produce great marketing?  Take Apple for example and their iPhone.  They create the kind of marketing that sticks with you and drives you to take action.  When I use my iPhone, I feel technologically up to date, empowered, even “cool”.  Note that all of these factors I’ve described are emotions.

Local Examples

BC firms have accomplished marketing success as well.  Mountain Equipment Coop, for instance, with their profitless rentals to encourage oudoor newbies, profit sharing to save the planet and their support of organizations such as the Big Wild, appeal to emotions and create loyalty.  There are many other examples, Dena included!  We are chosen not just for our ability to place chips on boards quickly and carefully, but because we want every BC tech company to prosper.  This is why we publish these industry articles and get everyone together at our amazing annual BBQs (coming up in August, see next page)!

What Can We Do To Make Our Marketing Great?

Readers might ask, what can we do to follow the steps of a giant such as Apple?  Here are some ideas:

  • The next time that you’re thinking about a marketing campaign, consider how you want your customers to feel about your company, and the emotional responses to your services.
  • Marketing should work with product development to showcase future products for existing customers, which is especially relevant for B2B businesses.  B2B customers rely on you for their success, trust that they want to know how your company will help them in the future.

  • Manage your customers experience, one step at a time.  Manage the entire purchase decision process in order to reinforce or produce these desired feelings.

Marketing helps us to define how we feel about a product.  Once you have prospects and customers attaching emotions to your products, you develop loyal customers.  Once you’ve been able to do that successfully, your creative marketing and promotions will be easy to convey. That’s what I call great marketing!
